Clooney Not a Happy Camper

Actor George Clooney blasted London’s Daily Mail for publishing an article about his impending marriage to civil rights attorney Amal Alamuddin.

Sure, he expects and can tolerate the pregnancy rumors and the stories suggesting the newspaper has the inside scoop on the plans for the event.

But he draws the line when the paper claims that his soon-to-be mother-in-law objects to the wedding for religious reasons.

The Mail claims that Amal’s mom has been telling people in Beirut that she opposes the wedding because the Druze religion does not welcome outsiders, and things don’t go so well for brides who defy that tradition.

George let loose, saying the story was “completely fabricated” – pointing out that Amal’s mom isn’t Druze, and hasn’t been in Beirut since the couple got engaged. In his statement, George said, “The irresponsibility in this day and age, to exploit religious differences where none exist, is at the very least negligent and more appropriately dangerous.”

He’s got a point. And for the Daily Mail staffers, you can cancel those press passes to George and Amal’s wedding.
