'American Idol' winner Phillips undergoes surgery

"American Idol" winner Phillip Phillips is recovering from surgery to remove kidney stones. A spokeswoman for “Idol” producer 19 Entertainment said the Wednesday operation went well. Phillips will be ready for the July 6 start of the "American Idol" national concert tour.

Rihanna into top 10 for 22nd time

Rihanna registers her 22nd top 10 on the Billboard Hot 100. Her dance-infused "Where Have You Been" jumps to #9. Gotye's "Somebody That I Used to Know," featuring Kimbra, spends an 8th week at No. 1. Madonna has had a record 38 top 10s over her career.

Simon Cowell Battling Bronchitis

Simon Cowell has been sidelined by bronchitis. He has pulled out of X Factor audition rounds in Kansas today and tomorrow so he can rest at home in Los Angeles. Louis Walsh from the British X Factor will fill in for him so filming stays on schedule.

Taylor Swift and John Mayer had a near run-in Tuesday when they dined at the same restaurant. They were both with friends at Tower Bar inside West Hollywood's Sunset Tower Hotel. Both demanded tables on opposite sides. Staff noted a lot of angry tension.

Robin Gibb's funeral today

A horse-drawn carriage will carry the body of Robin Gibb through his hometown in North London today. The Bee Gees star died of complications of cancer last month. He was 62. His casket will be carried through town before a private family service at St. Mary's Church.

Fleetwood Mac Star Bob Welch Found Dead

Former Fleetwood Mac member Bob Welch died from suicide at age 65. Police say he shot himself in the chest. He was found by his wife at their home in Nashville. A suicide note was found near the body. He joined in 1971 and was replaced by Lindsey Buckingham in 1974.

Pink Has Gallbladder Removed

Pink is resting at home after having her gallbladder removed in L.A. She underwent the operation after being admitted last week with crippling stomach pains. She missed performing at a fundraiser for President Obama. Her daughter also turned 1 last week.

Singer Lauryn Hill faces federal tax charges in NJ

Lauryn Hill has been charged with failing to file income tax returns for several years. She earned more than $1.6 million during 2005, 2006 and 2007. She lives in South Orange, just west of Newark, NJ. She is scheduled to appear before a federal magistrate on June 29.

Jessica Simpson baby cover doesn't pay off for 'People'

Don't you care about Jessica Simpson and her baby? People sure thought you would. They paid her $850,000 for the pics. The issue sold only 950,000 copies. That’s under its average of 1.3 million a week. While it didn't pay off for People, it obviously did for Simpson.

Charlie Sheen loses it at hockey game

Charlie Sheen had a meltdown Wednesday night. He was at the Staples Center during Game 4 of the Stanley Cup hockey playoffs. He left the stadium to take a smoke break. A security guard wouldn’t let him back in. He cussed her out, then left.

Congrats to Scotty McCreery. The American Idol 2011 winner has graduated from Garner High School in Raleigh, along with 462 of his classmates. He plans to attend North Carolina State University in the fall. He won a CMT Video Award Wednesday night.

You think Miley Cyrus is too young to get married? Her parents don’t. They are thrilled with her plan to wed Liam Hemsworth, who is 22. She is 19. Tish and Billy Ray Cyrus tweeted their blessings: “All we want is for our kids to find happiness, peace of mind, & true love."

'The Rock' Dwayne Johnson has sold his mansion in Hidden Hills, Hollywood for $4.9 million. The property is 22 miles from Hollywood, and is being purchased by a businessman. The house has six bedrooms, seven bathrooms, an infinity pool and a home theatre.

Model arrested for swiping Axl Rose's jewels

Axl Rose can stop fuming now. French police arrested a model in connection with the theft of his gold necklaces and diamonds worth around $200,000. She returned the items to a police station in central Paris. She did not explain how she got them.
