How I DeStress!
There's a lot going on in my life right now so I rely on these fool-proof ways to get your mind off things and release your tension!
1.) Watch television show bloopers on YouTube. I'm telling you it will CRACK YOU UP! Seinfeld bloopers never fail! I mean I could watch them for hours! "Friends" is also pretty funny! Nothing like laughing to calm you down!
2.) Watch Real Housewives! There is so much drama going on between these 50+ year old women that is so ridiculous that it will make you forget any of your issues. Beverly Hills, New York, and Orange County are my faves! (by the way, this is only really relaxing when my fiance is not watching it with me because if he is, all I hear is "Why do you watch this? Change the channel!" haha so make sure the nay-sayers are out of the room!)
3.) Wine. Quick, simple, and has yet to let me down! Even pouring the glass relaxes me haha. Red wine is my go-to. At least I can say I drink it for the antioxidants haha ;)
4.) Food. Now when I say food, I mean GOOD FOOD that leaves me GUILT FREE. If you're stressed and you down a whole tub of ice cream you're giong to feel even more tense than before you ate it. I like sushi, veggie burgers, and whole wheat pasta. They are foods I look forward to eating so it makes me happy just thinking about it! Oh, and don't forget the glass of wine.
5.) Talking to friends or family. They hear me complain, freak out, or whatever and they get it and still love me haha. Purging of emotions is best kept to loved ones!
Some say cleaning helps them. That's silly. Cleaning is a chore and if I am stressed and cleaning it just makes me angrier wondering why the heck I let it get so dirty! ha no good! Leave the cleaning for a different day!  Also, others say to exercise. I used to LOVE exercising but now... NOPE! I'd much rather sit with my mother or a friend and drink wine.... Happy Monday!

So I have been a homeowner, along with my fiance, for almost 1 week. I have already discovered the 5 worst things about being a homeowner. Too begin, I want to say that I definitely don't take for granted the fact that I can BE a homeowner, but apparently I just overlooked or was not prepared for some of it haha.

1.) Painting over the wall colors of the previous residents, who I am assuming were blind. I mean, come on. One room was the exact same color of the Scotch painters' tape. Also, one room had a different color on each wall! Burnt yellow, blood red, roya blue, and lime green. What were they thinking?? 2 coats of primer and 2 coats of paint later... HEAVEN
2.) Neighbors. So we met the neighbors on the right side of us. Very nice older couple who had been there for about 20 years. Good news. HOWEVER, the neighbors on the left... I think are ghosts. They come in and out of their house but we still haven't been able to catch sight of them! They also have a wicked privacy fence. Maybe this is where all of the bigfoots live... can see that they were/are there but can never get a decent glimpse! Hmm...
3.) Neighbors cont... You will NEVER judge more than when you purchase a home. Every person, yard, court, and pet in our court we can't help but scrutinize. "He looks sketchy" "I wonder if she picks up after her dog? Nope, she doesn't"  "Why does that driveway have so many cars in it?" "She looks a little cougar like, you better stay away babe" It never ends haha. You get so concerned with the people that now surround your sanctuary that it can be exhausting!
4.) Dogs. To begin, I LOVE dogs. One of the reasons we liked this neighborhood was because everytime we looked at a house in it there were tons of people out walking their dogs. Fantastic. However, I have a morsel sized dog and my neighbors have 2 large, loud, seemingly angry dogs. They jump on our fence and ROCK it. Remedy? Haven't figured it out yet without becoming "THOSE" people.
5.) Furniture. Furniture is a struggle!! Buying something then finding out it doesn't look right or fit. Even AFTER you did measurements. I don't understand how it happens haha. So we have outside furniture inside of our house for now! And this beautiful trunk I bought at TJ MAXX Homegoods. The furniture struggle is real...

More to come! Advice and commentary would be great :D

Wedding Planning is No Joke
So as many of you may or may not know, I am getting married this October! 10-12-14! We figured that number would be a good omen, plus wedding on a Sunday are much cheaper than those on a Saturday! I definitely recommend making the switch if you're engaged and planning!
Well, considering we just got engaged this Valentine's Day and after all is said and done we would have planned a beautiful wedding in 8 months, I think we are doing well, however, wedding planning is NO JOKE!

After visiting a couple places we finally decided on a venue, The Lesner Inn. Then, we have been figuring out details... Open bar was really important to me. I mean, much more important to me than food. It got to the point where I was just going to have alcohol and tell everyone to eat beforehand haha, but figured that may be a little too college-party for everyone.
I just went to wedding a couple weeks ago and they had open bar beer and wine yet STILL no one could get enough liquid courage to get up and dance. Granted, my friends and family don't need THAT much encouragement haha. It'sjust a huge fear of mine to see an empty dance floor!

Then to the cake... who would've thought a cake could cost so much?! I actualy burst out laughing when the first bakery we went to told us the price. They must cook with powdered gold or something. Needless to say we are still looking for a cake place!

(I'm scared to see how much flowers cost!)

Just yesterday we made the decisions on food and open bar everything. Which we are all very happy about! My Italian family needs a constant rotation of food and wine so that was accomadated haha.

And our honeymoon is finally planned after weeks of uncertainty! St. Lucia here we come!

Dress? Check. Bridesmaid gowns? Check. Venue? Check. Food and Beverages? Check. Honeymoon? Check.
But that's all, haha so I will keeep you posted! -Selina

25, too old?!

So Miss Delaware was stripped of her crown because she was going to be 25 during the Miss America Pageant? I'm sorry, but didn't they allow a transgendered individual to compete? Someone that was born a male but turned himself into a girl. If we are going to scrutinize competitors on rules, than I believe the rule concerning the fact that individuals must be born a woman to compete is much more important than whether or not she will be a year older than they want her during the Miss America Pageant. That's just me! They decided to give Amanda 9k in tuition money but that isn't the point. She was publicly stripped of the crown she rightfully won due to the fact that this pageant believes that being 25 is too old! How random is the 24 year old cut off too? I mean, they should do Miss Teen whatever as 15-19 then Miss America should be 20-25.
I like what the pageant is doing concerning body image, by not allowing woman to compete that look like they have been starving themselves, etc... but the age discrimination is a little off-putting. I can't wait to see what they do about this! I'm rooting for you Amanda Longacre!
