"American Idol" debuted a new commercial during Game 4 of the World Series Sunday. It featured the judges and host Ryan Seacrest on a Hollywood backlot city street being followed by a mob of youngsters. The tagline was "the incredible journey begins" Jan 22. John Mayer has undergone surgery for a throat inflammation. He hoped it would clear up, but doctors ordered the surgery. An inflamed growth was removed from just above his vocal cord. He has canceled all concerts & appearances. A new album for 2012 is on hold. Jennifer Lopez performed Saturday at Mohegan Sun's 15th anniversary celebration. Dancers re-enacted scenes with Lopez and men who resembled Diddy, Cris Judd, Ben Affleck & Marc Anthony. She broke into tears as she talked about “a trip down memory lane.” Madonna got a chilly reception on the red carpet at the screening of her new film W.E. in London on Sunday. She was booed by the British crowd. The Wallace Simpson biopic was slammed by critics when it premiered at the Venice Film Festival in September. Janet Jackson is rescheduling part of her Australian tour. She wants to support her family during the trial of Dr. Conrad Murray. The prosecution is wrapping up its case this week, and the defense is about to present its case. She thanked her fans for their support. Will Ferrell was awarded the Mark Twain Prize for American Humor from the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts. The show was taped last night for broadcast Oct. 31 on PBS stations nationwide. Ferrell was on "SNL" for 7 years and starred in several movies. Lindsay Lohan had her assistant order cupcakes for the volunteers at the morgue where she’s doing community service. They were turned away. The assistant later ordered food from a hamburger place. Again, it was not accepted. Lindsay was then given a stern talk. Lindsay Lohan is cleaning out more than just trash bins at the morgue. She's kicking her business manager to the curb. Lindsay is questioning the accounting practices of Lou Taylor. She believes her money is not being managed correctly. The split was said to be “amicable.” Kim Kardashian celebrated her 31st birthday in style with new husband Kris Humphries at a Las Vegas nightclub over the weekend. They’ve been living with sister Kourtney in New York since tying the knot in August. They now back in L.A., and will look for their own home. Paul McCartney and new bride Nancy Shevell celebrated their Nov 9 wedding with a rockin' party in New York Saturday night. The guest list included the biggest superstars in the music industry. The guests enjoyed a vegetarian dinner, champagne and dancing. Justin Bieber is working on a new album called 'Believe,' due out next summer. His Christmas album 'Under The Mistletoe' comes out November 1st. He wrote most of the songs on ‘Believe,’ and was influenced by Justin Timblerlake. Bieber is now 17. Regis Philbin says he isn't retiring from show business and expressed interest in a possible prime-time gig. He confirmed his departure from his daytime talk show was the result of a contract dispute. He is now 80. He said, "I'm moving on. I'm not retiring." Looks like Charlie Sheen is done playing nice. In a media interview, he said he's "very disappointed" in the direction "Two and a Half Men" has taken since his ouster. The show’s ratings are falling. He said, "People aren't stupid, you know? Not all of them." Chris Cornell has announced plans to release an acoustic album that will feature tracks from his 3 bands, as well as covers by Led Zeppelin & John Lennon. The album, titled Songbook, will be released November 21. Cornell has revealed has cannot read or write music. Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart and Taylor Lautner will be at Grauman's Chinese Theatre on Nov. 3. They will be immortalized in cement with a hand & footprint ceremony that morning. Pattinson was in Paris Saturday night at the premiere of Breaking Dawn -- Part 1. A report believed to detail the death of Amy Winehouse was accidentally sent to the address of a total stranger. An investigation has been launched into how the document ended up at the wrong location. The recipient took it to a North London police station. Country music singer Loretta Lynn has been diagnosed with pneumonia. She has had to cancel her shows in Kentucky and North Carolina. She is 76. Over her long career, she has released 70 albums and charted 16 No. 1 hits. Rupert Boneham won over TV viewers during 2004's "Survivor: All-Stars." Now the bushy-bearded, tie-dye-wearing Boneham is hoping Indiana voters will find him just as charming. He's seeking the Libertarian Party nomination for Indiana governor.
