Now, 20 years ago, I'd have handled this differently...today, I tucked the little fellow back in there and have declared an albeit temporary, but, sovereign area of back yard until they can head out on their own. My, how we change as we grow more experienced.
About an hour later I went out and apparently momma is back because she closed up the opening he popped open and put some fresh fur to support the grass.
